Jane Zara is on the Advisory Neighborhood Commission SMD 1D01 in Washington D.C. Zara has a BS in biology (VCU), a doctorate in biochemistry/molecular biology (Georgetown Univ.) and a JD (Georgetown Univ. Law Center).

Her research experience includes studying the role of carbohydrates in cellular regulation, developing HIV diagnostics and the use of immuno-toxins in cancer therapy. She has published in the fields of biology, biochemistry/molecular biology, reproductive biology, science policy and gender and the law. Her recent projects include studying ways to improve science literacy, analyzing the struggle for affordable pharmaceuticals and studying the role of intellectual property in innovation.
