Greg Gerritt has been interested in the development of a Green Economy for more than 20 years, bringing extensive knowledge of ecology and human evolution as well as long standing participation in community development efforts including the Providence RI North Main St initiative, Sustain Western Maine, and the Quonset Megaport stakeholder process to this work. Currently he is directing the Prosperity Project, which is developing a plan for the Rhode Island economy.

Gerritt has been an active Green since February 1984 and was the first Green Party candidate for State Legislature in the United States. He ran as the Green Party candidate for mayor of Providence, Rhode Island in 2002, and served as the Green Party of the United States secretary from 2000-2001 and 2003-2005.

Gerritt has a degree in Anthropology from the University of Maine. He is employed as the administrator of the Environment Council of Rhode Island and self-employed as a consultant on politics, organizational development, and ecological economic development.
