GPMI to Be a Presence in Federal, State, and Local Races --
Voters Statewide Will See at Least Six Greens on Their Ballots
State Moves 6th District US House Candidate Rev. Pinkney
250 Miles, 4 Hours Farther Away from Benton Harbor Home
The final tally is in, and the Green Party of Michigan (GPMI) has nominated a total of 32 candidates for Federal, state, and local offices on the November 4 general-election ballot.
A full list of candidates nominated, with contact information for each, is shown below.
GPMI nominated its candidates at a statewide convention in Marshall July 26-27 and in county caucuses completed across the state on or before the August 5 primary date. State law did not yet allow Greens to take part in this week's public primary vote.
Michigan Greens also helped nominate the 2008 national Green Presidential ticket: former Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney and Rosa Clemente, founder of the National Hip-Hop Convention.
Michigan Greens will join McKinney and Clemente on the ballot for one US Senate seat and 12 of the state's 15 seats in the US House, GPMI's widest coverage yet of Federal offices in a single election.
GPMI also nominated candidates for seven State House seats and one each for the two seats open in each of the four statewide education boards. All Michigan voters in November will see at least those four candidates on their ballot, plus the McKinney-Clemente Presidential ticket and GPMI's US Senate candidate Harley Mikkelson of Caro.
And eight more Michigan Greens are running for countywide or more local office.
Keeping in Contact with Campaigns: It Really Isn't Easy Being Green
GPMI continues to update the contact information for its candidates' campaigns. Many of the candidates have launched Web sites, and are developing content for those pages based on the Ten Key Values shared by all US Greens.
One contact-information change of a different kind is worthy of note. Rev. Edward Pinkney, GPMI's candidate for US House in the 6th Congressional District, has been moved away from the Egeler Reception & Guidance Center in Jackson -- and four hours and 250 miles farther away from his wife and home in Benton Harbor -- to the Hiawatha Correctional Facility in Kincheloe in the Upper Peninsula.
A list showing all the candidates nominated to date, with the latest information on how to contact the campaigns for more details, is shown below. The list will be updated as campaigns develop.
Also, GPMI's Federal and state candidates are gradually being listed on the Bureau of Elections Web page of candidates for the Tuesday, November 4 general election:

The Board of State Canvassers is currently expected to meet August 21 to certify GPMI's convention and caucus nominations, as well as those of other "minor parties" and the results of the Democratic and Republican Party primaries.

Ecological Wisdom
Grassroots Democracy
Social Justice
Non-Violence
Community Economics
Decentralization
Feminism
Respect for Diversity
Personal/Global Responsibility
Future Focus/Sustainability
