On May 7 David Lanman, right, a Texas Green, was elected mayor of Marfa, Texas. Challenges to the election by the outgoing mayor delayed his swearing-in. Lanman had focused his efforts on a door-to-door campaign and on listening to and acknowledging the concerns of residents. According to fellow Texas Green, Jane Elioseff, he is also a wonderful guitar player.

Texas Green Bob Brewer was appointed to fill the Ward 5 seat on the Alpine city council on June 21. He lost the race for city council by five votes in the May 7 election. However, the winner resigned on June 7, leaving an open seat. Bob will serve in the post until another election is held in May of next year
