It’s Up to Us, New York, New York!
Start spreading the wealth
I’m hoping to stay.
I came to live my life here
New York New York
These neighborhood shops
They call out my name
Don’t need no MasterCard here
In old New York
I want a city made of
Five hundred neighborhoods
Where we can pay decent rent
Buy a home if we should…
Those billionaire blues
They cannot compete
The greatness of this town
It’s on our own street
If I can move here
Not movin’ anywhere
It’s up to us
New York New York!

Reverend Billy deserves a lot more media attention than he’s been getting, no doubt a difficult task in the face of the Bloomberg machine. Check out this great profile of him and his campaign:

Makes me wish I was still a NYC voter.
A mayoral candidate addressing, or just raising genuine issues of real people rather than the tedious totalitarian shit trumped up on behalf of corporate “persons” is bound to be appreciated by a majority of New Yorkers.
This is great stuff. Greens need to send him money and Digg, Twitter, Face Book this video.
