Be Green - Buy Green for the Holidays!
In case you haven’t heard, big-box chain stores, like
Wal-Mart, are bad news. They drive out local businesses, drive
down wages, contract with sweatshops, don’t provide adequate
health benefits, and definitely do not support sustainable
living principles. So instead, why not buy something from our
on-line store? We offer cds, buttons, stickers and T-Shirts so
that you can “Be Seen Being Green” during the holidays and
throughout 2006. All of our products are union made and 100%
sweatshop free.

Encouraged to Join Montreal
Protest Dec. 3rd
With the news about global warming ever more ominous and the
Bush administration's denial, disregard and disruption of global
initiatives ever more egregious, we often find it hard not to
despair.
But today there may be cause for optimism. Climate activists
including many greens are on the move, around the world, in
Montreal, and in the USA. December 3rd is rapidly evolving into
the largest and most dramatic day of citizen action against
global warming to date.
Together we can make December 3rd a watershed event in the
fight against global warming.
The Climate Crisis Coalition is coordinating two campaigns
for the December 3rd International Day of Action to Stop
Global Warming:
- Climate Crisis, USA Join the World! campaign. Actions are
expected in at least 60 localities.
- The People's Ratification of the Kyoto Global Warming
Treaty. Organizers will take the petition to Montreal for a
media event with sister organizations also sponsoring global
warming petitions. Together with Environmental Defense,
Greenpeace, Energy Action and others, we will have at least
650,000 signatures.
What you can do to help:
- Forward this newsletter to friends and associates.
- Help in the two-week drive to collect signatures for the
People's Ratification of the Kyoto Global Warming Treaty.
With 17,000 signatures in hand; we'd like to have many more
by Dec. 3rd. These additional signatures will make our
presence in Montreal stronger and help us lay the groundwork
for a far more massive drive aimed at next year's
congressional races. Please urge people you know to sign
this petition by going to our website http://www.kyotoandbeyond.org
Help other environmental initiatives.
- Environmental Defense. Major groups with a major petition
drive in support of the Climate Stewardship Act. http://www.undoit.org
- US Mayors' Climate Protection Agreement. 188 mayors
representing over 40 million Americans have accepted the
challenge. http://www.seattle.gov/mayor/climate/
- The Stop Global Warming Virtual March on Washington. A
bi-partisan effort to bring all Americans together in one
place, proving there is a vast consensus to take strong
legislative action. http://www.stopglobalwarming.org

Support Elaine Brown Petition for New Election
Former
candidate for mayor Elaine Brown has filed a Petition in
Glynn County Superior Court contesting the result of the
mayoral election of November 8, 2005. The Affidavits of
poll watchers and monitors attest to misconduct, fraud
and irregularity in the conduct of the election and
place the results in doubt. Brown states that despite
the Order by U.S. District Court Judge Anthony Alaimo,
the Glynn County Board of Elections did not
"preserve and tally" her write-in votes.
Brown also charges that her name was illegally
removed from the ballot. She has notified the two other
mayoral candidates, Betsy Bean and Otis Herrington, of
her contest of the election.
|
Additionally, Brown contests the election on the grounds that
Bryan Thompson is not eligible to hold office because he is CEO
of Blueprint Brunswick, Inc., which receives City funding. Under
the legal doctrine of "incompatible offices," it is
illegal for a person to be an official of a government that
funds his own company.
