State Rules for the Nominating Process

State parties have their own rules for selecting delegates to Presidential Nominating Convention. Below are details for each state party.

Arkansas

As a "new party," again, the Green Party of Arkansas will have a convention, rather than a state run primary for its candidate selections.

The convention will be held May 6 (Sunday) at 2pm at the Pipefitters' Hall (1223 W. Markham St.) in Little Rock. All potential nominees are urged to attend.


California

A statewide primary was held in California on June 5. Detailed results can be viewed at the California Secretary of State web site.


Massachusetts

Unofficial results indicate that Jill Stein likely won about 80% of the vote in her home state, Kent Mesplay won about 10%, with others splitting the rest.


Connecticut

At the April 28 annual state convention, a presidential preference poll was held. The results will be binding on our delegates for the first round of voting at the national convention. (July 12-15 in Baltimore, MD.

 

80% for Jill Stein – 20% uncommitted


Connecticut gets ten delegates, so the State party will apportion 8 for Stein and 2 uncommitted. The actual delegates have not yet been selected; to date at least ten people already volunteered. Please note that the presidential nominating petition for CT can be downloaded from our homepage, http://www.ctgreenparty.org - any CT registered voter can circulate this and collect signatures from any CT voter (a separate page is required for each town).


New Jersey

The Green Party of New Jersey Annual State Convention

The DC Statehood Green Party held it's convention on March 31.

Primary voting took place on Tuesday, April 3. Unofficial results from the DC Board of Elections and Ethics.

New York

The Green Party of New York will hold it's state convention on Saturday, May 19.

Results

Jill Stein won the majority of votes and delegates at the Green Party of New York State's convention on Saturday in Troy, NY. With 88% of the vote, Stein will receive 14 of NY State's 16 delegates at the Green Party of the United States' presidential convention this July in Baltimore. Roseanne Barr received 12% of the vote and will be awarded 2 delegates at the national convention.

 

Georgia

The 2012 Nominating Convention of the Georgia Green Party will be held on Saturday, June 2nd. It will take place at:

Pennsylvania

The Green Party of Pennsylvania held it's State Convention on March 3. A series of local caucuses will take place between April 21-May 15.

Those results will be aggregated to determine the state delegation.

 

The Green Party of Philadelphia (GPOP, www.gpop.org) Presidential Caucus will take place at 7:00 pm on Thursday, April 26, at the Buzz Café, 1800 North Howard Street in Kensington. All registered Green Party voters from Pennsylvania may participate, if they attend the Presidential Caucus. 

The Bucks & Montgomery County Caucus will be held on Wednesday, May 2 at the Lansdale Library in the Community Room. The meeting will take place from 5:30 to 8:30. The library is located at 301 Vine Street in Lansdale.

Iowa

Registered Iowa Greens will be getting a mailing with the ballot and more info about the meeting later this month or early May. Deadline for mailed ballots is May 26th. Ballots may also be cast at the convention.

South Carolina

The South Carolina Green Party will hold it's annual state convention in Columbia on Saturday, April 28, 2012 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM in the banquet room of Al-Amir Restaurant on Devine Street. Nominations for state local and national offices, including the Presidential election will be made.

Delegates to the Presidential Nominating Convention
will be selected at the State Convention.

Maine

The theme of the 2012 Maine Green Independent Party Convention is "Back to the Roots." Featured speakers will include former MGIP Gubernatorial candidates Pat LaMarche and Jonathan Carter.

Also featured, will be the MGIP's 2012 candidate slate, both state and local.

The Convention will be held on May 5th in Portland this year at the Maine Historical Society at 489 Congress St. The museum will be open to convention attendees for private viewing during the lunch hour.

Convention Results

The Maine Green Independent Party held its annual convention this past weekend at the Maine Historical Society in downtown Portland. The convention selected Jill Stein of Massachusetts as its preferred Presidential candidate by a narrow margin in a vote of 17 to 14, with Roseanne Barr a close second. Maine Delegates to the Green Party's National Convention in Baltimore in July will carry the vote proportionally.


Texas

The Green Party of Texas will hold it's state convention the weekend of June 9 & 10 in San Antonio.

Maryland

The Maryland Green Party will hold its Annual Assembly on Saturday, May 12th, in Takoma Park. The assembly will be held at the Takoma Park Community Center at 7500 Maple Avenue. The event will begin at 10am and conclude at 5pm. All registered Greens are encouraged to vote in the party-administered Presidential primary election to be held at the assembly. Registration for the event is open and more information and directions are available here.

The Maryland affiliate of the Green Party is entitled to send six delegates to the national party's Presidential Nominating Convention in Baltimore on July 14, 2012. By law, Green Party members are not entitled to participate in Maryland's April 3rd primary elections.
